 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (Pastor Neuendorf) Paul is concerned that Timothy "continue" in the direction he was begun. But how do we launch our children in the right direction?

Going After Zaccheus ::

 (Pastor Wentzel) As Jesus journeys to Jerusalem he meets many people, but he waits for them to come to him. The 10 lepers, the rich young ruler, even the blind man, Jesus waits until they call to him before he helps them. But for Zaccheus, for the crook, the thief, the outcast, Jesus goes looking.

Telling the Truth ::

Jeremiah 26:8-15 (Pastor Wentzel) Telling the truth sometimes does not get us a very friendly response. On the other hand, it is a blessing to speak the truth and a blessing to hear it. But the truth, God helps us grow.

A Stop at the Funeral Home ::

John 12:1-11 (Pastor Neuendorf) This is our second midweek sermon in the Lenten season. As we continue our journey with Jesus to the cross, he stops in Bethany at the house of Mary and Martha and Lazarus, were a strange thing takes place. Mary anoints Jesus' feet with perfume, as if for burial. Can you stand to participate in such a ritual? Might the rituals of dying and funerals take on a new meaning after walking with Jesus?

Luke 4:1ff (Pastor Neuendorf) Jesus endured temptation for us. But we have our own times of testing. What does his victory mean for us?

 Luke 9:28ff (Pastor Neuendorf) The sermon hymn for this day was a hymn to the word "alleluia." How weird is that? And yet, there is a good reason for us to take some time to set aside joy and celebration.

"Throw Your Network on the Other Side" ::

Luke 5:1-11 (Pastor Neuendorf) We all know that networking is important for our career success, and even the help we need in daily life. We want to get things from our network of friends. But Jesus has a new idea. Your work needs to be about something else - just as the disciples' work would no longer be about fish. It's about the people you work with, live with, talk with... the people who are so precious to him.

"God Knows" ::

Jeremiah 1:5 (Pastor Neuendorf) Every year we remember the anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision that began a terrible holocaust in our nation. After more than 50 million deaths, we simply lose the ability to conceive of the grief and hurt and wrong. But God knows. God knows and grieves each child. He also knows and grieves for each wounded mother, each guilty perpetrator, each bleeding family, each indifferent bystander. God knew us before we were even conceived... and he loved us.

"Stand Up and Listen" ::

Nehemiah 8:1-10 (Pastor Neuendorf) What in the world would induce people to get out of bed before dawn, gather in the ruins of the city in the dark, and then stand up to listen to a reading of the Bible for 4 or 5 hours? Would you stand that long to hear God's Word? Maybe they know something you don't.

"What's Good About This News?" ::
Sunday, January 10, 2010 :: Administrator Account:: 0 Comments :: Article Rating

Luke 3:18 (Pastor Neuendorf) Luke says that John preached "good news" to the people, but how is his sermon good news? It sounds like a lot of warnings. Or is that all that is there?
