Tuesday: write a 5-10 line poem "If I Were ...";  it should have some rhyming lines; due Friday
Thursday: (a only) write a sequel to Casey at the Bat" for Monday (8-12 lines, rhyming)
 
Monday: complete research for Thursday's debate

Tuesday - final copy of essay due Wednesday (either typed or handwritten in ink - one side of paper only); continue to work on reading log
Read Lit p192-196 for Thursday
 Wednesday - Draw a house and fill in the topic of your next essay; in each 'room' include details about your topic
Thursday - LAa: no assignment
LAb: write rough draft of your paper - be sure to include a topic sentence
Friday - LAa: rough draft of paper due Monday  - be sure to include topic sentence
LAb: work on revising your paper
Thursday LA part II - write out answers to questions 1a/1b, 2a/2b, 3a/3b, 4a/4b in complete sentences
Friday LA part II - read chapter 1 of Across Five Aprils for Tuesday
 
Don't forget the reading log is due on Sept. 19th
Essay due Sept. 19th:  typed, size 12 font, double spaced;
Font choices: Times New Roman, Courier New, Ariel, or Trebuchet MS
Across Five Aprils:  Chapter 1 should be read by Tuesday
Chapters 2 & 3 should be read by Thursday PLUS worksheet filled in

Tuesday:  Exercises 1 and 2 (p28-30) - complete and turn in (skip a line between sentences)

Tuesday: p39 Write a thesis statement, lead, three details, and conclusion for a possible paragraph (topic given in class)

Friday: write a formal letter to the president-elect about his inaugural speech
 
 Across Five Aprils:  finish reading chapter 5
For next week: 1) for Tuesday, read ch 6-7
2) choose one of the three activities (note the different due dates)
- make a political cartoon: present-day issue (not person); no violence or goriness; use symbolism (be ready to show and explain to the class Thursday
- bake the cornbread recipe that was handed out: bring the product into class; due by Friday
- answer the questions on ch 6-7 in complete sentences; due Tuesday

Monday: State your topic (something you would like to be able to do or would no longer like to do) for asking your parents - get parents' objections and signature by Wednesday
